Merith Godwin-Greer & Vicky Mattews
Founders of The Maiden Quartet


Merith was born in 1976, and has been playing the violin
from the age of four. She attended Chethams School of Music from 11 - 18, then  graduated from Oxford University
with a BA Hons. in Music.

Since leaving, Merith has been working freelance in and around London.
She has taken part in a diverse range of performances in the fields
of theatre, TV, chamber and orchestral music. These include several performance with Nigel Kennedy, particularly The Kennedy Experience
Live for Classic FM, Top of the Pops, The London Concert
Pop Orchestra, and two new musicals soon to be seen in the West End.

Other musical interests include jazz, Klezmer,
and chamber music.


Vicky was born in 1976, and has played the cello since the age of four. She attended Chethams School of Music aged 14 - 18 where she won several prizes for outstanding performance. After leaving school Vicky studied at The Royal Academy Of Music and graduated with a BMus. in performance and a Diploma in teaching.

Since leaving the Royal Academy of Music, Vicky has performed extensively throughout London. These have included theatre, film, TV and orchestral work, such as The National Lottery Show, a Rod Stewart video and two new musicals soon to hit the West End.  She has played at a number of venues, including The Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room, St Martin-in-the-Fields and the Bath Pump Rooms.  Vicky is currently a member of the Manon Duo.

Vicky's other musical interests include contemporary music, chamber music and solo performance.
